when a snake gets by and lights up the giant hole...you cant see anything coming from the top and makes it impossible to stay alive...so far.

you really need to rework the cards. I played one game vs. the computer for nearly 30 minutes and both characters ended up with around 400 stock for every item but neither myself or the computer were receiving any attack cards.

Really great game!!! It's apparent that alot of thought went into this.

Improvements:
First and foremost...I'm not a flash wizard, so I don't know if it is possible to make it run faster...I was at level 11 with the energy sphere and it was pushing the FPS to 3....I had to quit at that point because it was unplayable.

To up the difficulty, i'd say allow the enemies to have the weapons you can get...to a point. It just wouldn't be fair to take a railgun shot from across the screen...

In the end, great job! Try and see if you can optimize it a bit to run faster with more characters on the screen.
